I agree Critter and you have the most amazing tomatoes ever Rita in your Summer. Ours are faded by July. Thats when my veggie growing envy sets in with you Northern growers. Smiling

Its fun to watch the seasonal changes in the beds Arlene and Thank You all for looking and commenting...

It won't be long before the magic starts for us all. Gotta' love Winter for itself but Spring sure is fun for us all!

Thanks David. I have to sit thru the winter and dream of my spring garden and my will be tomato plants. I do love to grow veggies and my favorite is and always will be tomatoes. Nothing beats a nice ripe tomato directly from the garden.

I'm envious of them all, but ESPECIALLY your tomatoes.

Do you grow any bell peppers? I have a yen to grow sweet red peppers, but I doubt I have enough warmth. Tomatoes other than cherry tomatoes are marginal for me.

I grow many of them but usually in Spring-Fall here Rick. We are prone to freezes intermittantly,... as we are up for this next couple of days in Winter. I do still have some hot peppers producing though right now...

Dave - why type of hot peppers do your grow. I am going to try one of those ghost peppers like i did last year. they are called the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T. If you are really interested in hot peppers visit www.thehippyseedcompany.com

I get all my hot pepper seeds and sauces from them.

Rick - When i fist started gardening i couldn''t wait to grow bell peppers. I put out five plants and got about 4 or 5 pepprs from each plant but when i put them in the fry pan to make peppers and eggs the peppers were reduced to a very small amount after cooking. I figured i would need a hundred plants to make it worthwhile so i gave up on them. Hilarious!

I cannot grow any cruciferous vegetables here. It is world war 3 - the cabbage whites and anything else that moves think they are for them. And, just when you think you have won, you wake up to devastation the next morn.

Wow Glen, thats sad to hear. We have critters all around here to (Tons of Raccoons, Opossums, Squirrels and such which fortunately do not mess with anything....As far as birds, the only destructive ones here are the Chickens when they can find their way through a left open gate. A few weeks they made it into the front and flattened most every Swiss Chard. They are coming back nice now.

Here are some more edibles around here right now as of yesterday. Its soon time to make jelly from the Prickly Pear. They are getting really ready now...

David your climate will be similar to here. I am on an island off the capital of Queensland, Brisbane.
You don't have Cabbage White Butterflies to eat your Brassica?
I love prickly pear fruit and a jelly from it sounds delicious. But how do you get rid of the tiny prickles or fine hairs? Invariable I get them stuck in my gums or fingers. Is there a trick to it?
