1 qm is a square of 1 meter edge-length: 1 meter x 1 meter = 1 qm

so our garden is f.e. 30 meter x 100 meter = 3.000 qm

Over 1/2 an acre. Wow, that's a lot of growing area for container growing. Thumbs up
I think I calculated it correctly?
Anyone here better at math than I am, that would be just about anyone. Rolling on the floor laughing

Peter,

Those gold heuffeliis are AMAZING. I wonder if they are good growers too. That's one reason I wanted to get something out of 'Torrid Zone' or 'Hot Lips' as both of these grow very easily. The reds in both seedlings groups look very happy too. Both of these heuffeliis are out of 'Henri Correvon', which seems to throw a lot of yellows, but weak ones.

With the crazy laws we have now about importing plants into the US, it is SO difficult for us to get a new cultivar into the country that I see little chance for getting those cultivars here. For the shipment from Fernwood I had to pay a 90 pound test for some potato pathogen! Of course the test of Howard's nursery was negative but that is RIDICULOUS. Howard has never grown potatoes on his property even! OK I'll get off my soapbox! Unfortunately I worked for the agency that made these crazy rules for 30 years although I did not make any such rules.

Probably 40 years a prominent grower told me that "I think we have seen it all". Obviously they hadn't thought about Lynn's combo of 'Oddity' and 'Killer'!!

I think Peter means square meter = sqm.
That's what we use for measure in these parts.

Well Peter... I'd love to see pictures of your .... collection Smiling

Hi all, excuse my lack of comments of late, I just wanted to post a little about my seeds while I still remember the details. I'm learning a lot about seed collecting. In the process I've tried to harvest some too soon (no seeds formed), left some too late (seeds already dispersed) and caught some about right. I have lots from my arach and some from grey ghost, with quite a few blooms not yet ready to harvest.
I found that passing them a 500µm sieve took out all the large bits of stalk/flower etc, and then passing what came out of that through a 300µm sieve left 99% clean seed! unfortunately, some of the debris blocked some of the holes in the mesh, had it been my sieve I wouldn't have minded too much because it was only a small number of holes affected, but as it was a calibrated test sieve that we use in work I thought I better not put any more through it after my first pass. *Blush* DON'T TELL MY BOSS IT WAS ME....... Blinking I've tried to locate a cheap 300µm sieve to buy specifically for seed harvesting, but it turns out that they are quite expensive. Again, DON'T TELL MY BOSS IT WAS ME....... Whistling
I'm hoping to set some seeds off next weekend to see if what I have collected are viable, if they are I'm happy to share with anyone who wants some.
