My husband and I moved into a wonderful new house in Central Florida and found this beautiful tree in our back yard. It looks tropical, but I'm not sure what it is. Does anyone recognize it?

It looks like Tree Spinach to me yet you'll need other opinions. Are the flowers on those bracts small and white?

Spinach Tree, Tread Softly, Cabbage Star, Chaya
Cnidoscolus aconitifolius

Delicious, full of nutrients, and also full of Cyanide and possibly fatal if not boiled at least 15 minutes to relieve the gas'! (If it is) A beautiful plant and great pic's even if I'm not right!

Yes Jay! I've never been able to keep one through the Winter here in DeLand and forgot all about the leaves. Somehow that Tree Spinach makes it here with a very similar look. I'd rather the Papaya!

The flowers are small and yellow and when we first moved (2 months ago) it had fruit, but I wasn't sure what it was so we didn't try to get any of it. Here's a pic of one of the flowers that had fallen and landed on the grass.

The tree and what I can tell from the bloom photo look like Carica papaya to me too.
