My missing bird mystery is solved. A few minutes ago I saw a hawk swoop down on a young rooster and pop him on the head. The hens and rooster ran and the hawk flew away. The rooster is ok but a bit shaken. That is why my bigger birds are gone i am sure. I hope they did not eat the Cardinals. Oh Lord. what an awful thought.

It could have been a juvenile Hawk ... they sometimes miss on their first try. Green Grin!

JB: Don't worry, I don't think the hawks could have eaten all of the birds in your area; the songbirds are probably just in other locations filling up for their migration south.

Since it's October I thought I'd start a new thread for this month. I'll go post a couple of pic's and come back here and post the link.
