Oh wow, verrrry nice photo Lin! Is that a wax myrtle he's in? Talk about camouflage..... he's sure camouflaged.

Ann: I'm not sure what those shrubs are ... could be Wax Myrtle I guess; they are located along the waters edge at a house across the waterway from me so I can't really see them clearly.

I wonder if they're heading south? Seems like just this morning there are more birds around our place than usual. I wondered if we're starting to see some of the migratory birds.

I believe these are summer tanager females. this is the first time I've been able to get a photo of them although they have been here all summer. I have not been able to spy a male. But today just before I took these photos there was one that looked the same size & shape & bill shape as these photos only it was bright orange; I saw it's underparts clearly but not it's back & it was gone before I could grab the camera. I think it might be the red morph female but can't be sure until I see it & all of it again.
Shots take through the window. 2 in the first 2 shots & 1 in the last shot.

Great shots Ann ... it does look to be the right shape/size and color for the female Summer Tanager. Listen for their call ... my Fla. Bird Book says their call is like a Robin and describes it as a staccato chick-a-tick-a-tuck.

Carolina Chickadee. Lately, I've noticed birds suddenly taking off from where they're feeding and flying off...happening a couple of times a day. There's something scaring them...predators, maybe.

Caught this cute little Carolina Wren today sitting on the porch rail knob -- they sure can make some racket! But I don't mind.

Ann, what a cutie. I have Carolina wrens pass thru at times but mostly I have my House Wrens here. House Wrens are such busy singers and such a song for such a tiny bird. And if anything bothers them, then it is scold, scold, scold!
That's what the Carolina wrens do Rita. They really have pretty songs & sing a lot but then they have a chirp thing & that's fine but like you say..... if anything bothers them you can't miss hearing that loud scolding! I don't think I've ever hear any birds who can scold like wrens can. If we knew what they were saying, it would probably burn our ears.
