Hardy Easy Sedum

By valleylynn

Sedum are extremely easy to grow. They prefer well drained soil and full sun, but will tolerate a variety of conditions. No special soil treatment is necessary when you plant sedum, although it’s a good idea to add a little compost.

Lyn -- yesterday while i was out back working on a flower bed... it dawned on me that i need a 'path' back there to walk between beds. In the past i've used lawn clippings.... but then i figured I could use Sedum Acre. It is walk-able and really makes a nice carpet.

I have a huge patch that i have to dig up annually where i grow my tomatoes. I'll remove it, then by the following spring, it's like the tomatoes were never there.

That may be a project for next week. If and when i get around to it... i'll do before|during|after photos.

I just love the before and after photos. More great ideas for all of us to use. Thank you Terese. How much can you walk on them? They don't squish? I have never use them in that manner. How interesting. Can't wait to see the photos.

I know i've been able to kneel on them for short periods of time while working in a bed. Light foot traffic with not ill effects.... and it wont get daily traffic ... but should also help keep the weeds at bay.

Hopefully i'll be able to get working on it by the end of next week. My neighbor offered to help dig them up since she said she'd like some.

I know there is a web site called "stepables" where they list a bunch of plants that handle foot traffic... I do believe this one is listed.

Yes, I have some of Stepables plants. : ) I will have to plant some between my stepping stones. Thank you for the idea Terese. I will take some before and after pictures also. I think that might be tougher than my Blue Star Creeper.
