I was thinking of getting a clear PVC umbrella to put over my adenium. That way I won't have to worry about unexpected rain. The sun would get through and it would be protected. Good idea? Or not??

Thumbs down the wind would blow, and knock over the umbrella along with your pots! Assuming they're in pots . If in the ground and u have fast draining soil, don't worry about them we get torrential rain just about every day and I can't recall ever losing one due to rain, potted or in the ground. Jim

I agree also the plastic might still keep some of the light out that they need to flower. I had my Adeniums in my pool cage for a while and they never bloomed.

the recent rains have made my buds drop! when I move the pots out of the rain they get little sun. was thinking of using a big pvc golf umbrella on a patio table. if blown over, it would have to take the iron table, too. why can't Sun get thru clear plastic that doesn't block UVB/A/C? I only have about 8 pots that would fit under an umbrella just fine on those days when rain is predicted. If no rain comes,I thought at least it wouldn't miss a day off sun.

I would think a pool cage would block UVa/b?
