Have anyone seen NUDE YOGA? Isn't that the oddest name. I think HOT YOGA would be a good name for a red one.

Yes, I got a catalog from Critonic Gardens and it is one of their intros this year. It's a pretty odd looking flower.

I do like the look of Dottie Warrell's Break Dance. It almost looks like an applique. Is it just the appearance, or has anyone seen applique throats on diploids ? I do have a few Mahieu's. Gates of Morning and Gates of Pearl. I don't have any pictures though. As for Curt Hanson's Nude Yoga, I have seen it blooming in a clump. It is certainly a standout, tall with tremendous branching and blooms. One you can't miss in the garden. I have heard all kinds of comments from people. I find the new forms like this pretty exciting. Who knows where one can go. As for the name, my take was that of a flesh , pink color moving in different poses.

Unusual Forms are my favorite daylily shapes. They look good from the front, sides and back.

They require some conformance to rules just as the spiders do. I hope that Jules shares them here. The AHS pages have them in the mean time. Not just any thin daylily is a spider nor a UF!

Love Margo's, Jim's, Bob Schwarz's, Dottie Warrel's stuff. Mine too! <big grin>

Bobbie, I have plans to list the rules with examples for spideries, doubles, sculpted etc...

Life has gotten away from me in the last few weeks. I have not had much time to devote to building the cubit. Trying to get some health issues in order so I know where I stand before going into vocational rehab to try to be trained for a new job, since I am no longer working. If they cannot come up with anything for me, I will probably apply for disability. Figuring out all this stuff, and getting updated at all my doctors, getting records - whew, it's not easy!

David Kirchhoff was supposed to send me some examples for doubles, but I think I need to remind him!

I really can't say for 100% but if James didn't keep it for his hybridizing then it probably is very pod difficult. He usually keeps any spider/Ufs that will set pods readily. On the Trimmer website it even says in the description "some pods"
With you being in a cooler climate it may set better than down this way. I'm sure the pollen is good though.

I received a single fan of Tusk from the LA a couple years ago. Came very close to loosing it (rot?) Tried several different things with it, nothing worked. Finally popped it into my Dip bed, where it has survived.

It is now a small single fan, still far from blooming stage - although I will admit that after this drought this summer, I had almost zero increase on any of my daylilies. So I am not sure I can "blame" it's lack of growth on anything except the weather.

I don't expect to see any bloom next year on it, but I am hoping for more normal growth if we have a more normal summer. Right now it is the size of the seedlings I planted this year.

On the other hand, it is still alive.... and it's not bothering anything where I have it planted, so I just baby it a bit, periodically hit it with daylily booster, and let it do it's thing. ~Jan

I have it, but it has been a slow grower for me. It bloomed the first year (2010) but then I moved it last year and it really struggled and didn't bloom, but now it seems happy with two nice big fans so I hope it will bloom next spring/summer. Here was a bloom from the one thin scape I had -- and I didn't get the wonderful deep colors here because of our heat, but I still loved it.

Thumb of 2012-10-26/Betja/6a6e50

Edit: I just checked the description of TUSK on the Trimmers' Water Mill Gardens website, and the only mention of fertility is at the end where it says "some pods" with no mention of pollen.

I think I replied to this thread before, so overlook me if I repeat myself.
I made more dip uf seed this year than I have in several years, I even built another bed just for dip seedlings. They are my favorite form also, but like a lot of us I got side tracked with the tet thing. I bought several new dip ufs last year to use this year, the first dips I had bought in several years.
This never has two blooms the same
could not set a seed on it but set a lot of seed with the pollen

It bloomed, I did use the pollen a lot.
Very rare and was hard to find.

I love BONIBRAE THE FREAK! For the first time ever I bought seeds last winter--including some with B. the Freak as pollen parent--because I had horrible seed set the previous summer. But lost most of my seedlings this summer due to the heat and drought. Still have a few that made it through the summer but not many--so sad..... Anyway, here are a few of the spiders/UFs that have been good parents for me.
