Love those edges! I have been watching for the metallic edges for a couple of years now, and really enjoy them. Would love to see much wider ones and really would like to know the name of any with the red metallic edge. I have some seedlings coming that should show some glittery edges, so I'll have to send photos when bloom season arrives. I can hardly wait to see them!

Braided Edging and Divine Comedy are two more that show glitter. Would love to hear of any others you've heard of.

Hurray!

Ok, I know, ya'll are taking some of the fancy gold leaf stuff that Martha Stewart uses all the time in her arts and crafts and putting it on the edges of your daylilies!!! I've never seen gold glitter like this on any daylily around these here parts of Mississippi.

I grow Papal Robes and I'm going to take special care to see if it does this. It just might get moved around to the baby growing beds if it looks as pretty as yours!!!

HMMMMMM metallic Glitter??? This sounds like a lot of fun.

Blessings, Mona

Hi Margaret, I see you said Sandy seedlings. Did you get these from Sandyp60??? I've got some too and I'm so happy with them. They are beautiful plants and I'd bet they will be beautiful blooms too!!! I want the glitter, too so we can compare if they are the same.

Like it was said above, another addiction!! It's soooooo much fun!
Blessings to all, Mona

Mona, I was given seed by Sandy (seedsower) last year. I planted 18 of her crosses in July and they were very nice healthy plants this fall, I hope they all survived the winter. I started more of the seed this year and I now have 29 healthy looking little seedlings that will go in the garden in June. I doubt I will see any bloom until next year from the first seedlings because of our short summers. From what I have seen of her crosses they will be worth waiting for! Hurray!

Embrace The Moment and Crown Of Creation both show the same form on the petal. I am wondering if there is a name for this or if it is just an occasional fluke??

Stephanie, unfortunately, that is the only time I remember seeing Crown of Creation with that effect. I am not sure it has a name.

Embrace The Moment is normally pretty unique, the picture in my original post was when I first brought it home from the nursery. Below is what it pretty much looks like in my garden, still has the same effect but not as pronounced. It's a very pretty flower...

Would Ornate Hawk-Eagle be considered a double or triple edge? I enjoy the Lambertson intros!

First year in my garden for God Save The Queen, appears to have some of that same effect along the edge as my Embrace The Moment. GSTQ was papa to many seedlings that will be planted this spring!

You have some really fantastic edges there, Sandy! I wish we could get those really lush edges here, but I think it's just too warm. We do get some pretty good teeth, though.

Sandy Ornate Hawk Eagle is a Triple Edge. If you look at the top petal and the left side pf the left petal you see the gold edge, inside that is a lavender/purple edge and inside that is a violet edge and then you get the the base color of the petal. It is a beauty. I have seen GSTQ used in so many great crosses. It has some wonderful genes to pass on.

I really like that effect on Embrace The Moment.

A-stounding!! Oh, those are just so wonderful Sandy!!!!! I've got GSTQ coming in this year and i can hardly wait to see it bloom and to use it's pollen. I've looked at the database at the babies it already has registered and I just know I'll get some good crosses from it.

I'd love to get Ornate Hawk Eagle and Embrace the Moment is something to die for. I'm into bright bold and gaudy but Embrace the Moment has so many ruffles that it fits right in with my "loves" for this year. It reminds me of a little girls dress that I saw years ago that was covered in ruffles. Beautiful!

Thanks for sharing your photos, Mona

Dayjilly, if you still watch this thread, I'm interested in knowing the parents behind your orange seedling with the metallic edges that you posted in this thread. It's a lovely bloom, and has great metallic edges. It's a pleasure to meet you here - I picked Dayjilly as my name on the Lily Auction! Big Grin
