hmmmm.... since Pearl Harbor has a darker edge, would it still be a self?

I just looked up self in the AHS dictionary, and it doesn't say anything about edges :-(

I don't know the answer. Would like to!

Spunky, since you posted that Lillian Kathleen was a "complete" self above, you must be familiar with the term. What do you think?

From the AHS online dictionary
SELF, COMPLETE SELF:
A flower having perianth segments all of the same color. The throat region can be a different color. In a complete self the segments, throat, pistil and stamens will all be the same color. Also see: Perianth segments, pistil, stamen, throat.

My thoughs are if a daylily has a different color edge it is not a self, altho some hybridizers describe there intros as a pink, cream, or other color self with a gold edge. The AHS only mentions the throat as you said and today the throats are coming so far out on the pedals that some look like two different colors as this seedling shows. Some of the eyes have become so big theres not much base color left. These are not bad traits but somewhere down the road AHS will have to come out of the pass and address the modern daylily.

Joy, I like Spring Charm. I like the color, the pinched petals, and the white midribs. I will be watching for this one to add to our collection. Thanks for posting the picture.

I think of Louise Lemly as a self, but I guess it does have a watermark. I think with all the fancy ones we have available now, it takes some plainer ones to balance everything out.

Sandra Elizabeth is one I like because it blooms after almost everything is done blooming here. Nice clear yellow that shows up well from a distance too.

Pastel Pink is one Moby from DG gave me years ago and it's still one of my truest pinks. It does have white ribs. Would it still be a self?

Louise Lemly might be considered a bitone. The sepals are a few shades lighter than the petals.

Wonderful pics, they are all lovely. My favorite thing about daylily sites is all the nice pictures you get to look at. Over and over! Selfs are a favorite of mine too.
