I keep being shocked at what is getting eaten in my garden. I know The kangaroos are responsible for eating the new shoots off all my roses, because being sited in a sunny lawn it is right where they come to graze every afternoon, and secondly the shoots are bitten iff too high up to be the rabbits.

But it maybe is rabbits responsible for nipping all the new shoots and buds off the clematis, since they are only nibbled close to the ground, not higher up.

But as for the Foxglove and Aconitum, I damn well hope it was the rabbits that ate a large quantity of Foxglove foliage and a couple of new shoots on the Aconitum, because I'd hate to be responsible for poisoning the kangaroos! I haven't found any dead animals, but those plants are seriously poisonous! How? Why? I didn't think I'd have to cage off any of these things, but I was wrong!

Hi Vanessa! Yes, it can be discouraging when the wildlife eats your favourite plant, and alarming when they eat something poisonous. One year, the deer munched my Colchicums - but they only did it once. There's probably a very nauseated rabbit out there somewhere thinking, "I won't eat foxglove and aconitum again". Can you surround your clematis with wire netting up to the height that a rabbit can reach?

I'd love to see a pic of the kangaroos grazing on your lawn!

I am out all day tomorrow, but have been planning to get some photos. I will take some of my ridiculous wire cages that I belatedly built around my clematis etc! I keep forgetting what will interest other people, but yes even the townies in my area get excited when they see the kangaroos!
