There's so much to this program.
What hints or tips can you share?

Joy,
You are right, there is so much to this program that you can overwhelm yourself very easily. When the hybridizing section was greatly improved, I went bonkers and entered every pollination through seedling, and got myself totally confused. Now I wait and just enter the potential keepers. The garden map feature has been a real help (as long as I remember to move the daylily in the program when I move it in the garden). Now I usually locate a seedling or a registered plant pretty easily. Key factor there is having a plan to start with. Name the garden/bed, number the row, and number the plant (and remember which end of the row you started on).
This is by far the best program I have found. I'm not the guru for it, but if you have some questions i"ll be glad to try and help. And, BTW, Kent Belan is one of the best at helping with problems.

Sit and watch the videos, join his yahoo group, His forum, the if you have access to Facebook join it there too. And always ask questions. I'm glad to help when I can but Kent will probably answer faster then I can.
From a business side
I really like the invoicing section. I can print an invoice off and send with the package and I can also make it into a pdf file and send it as an attachment in an email. The program saves on sooo much paper work. Also the expense report part is so nice just add things that your buy ( plants, fertilizers, sprays etc) and when it comes to tax season, just print off your report.

Played with the program a little last night. I also have the EasyBloom plant sensor, but haven't used it yet. Anyone have this and have comments? The plant list is rather sparse, so I'm guessing it's not going to be much help tracking plants and I'm wondering about its value at plant suggestions with such a meager base.

No, I haven't moved for 13 years. It should still be the same. How about posting your seedling pic in a larger size?

Hum I wonder if its another Robin Caldren or if my address got mixed up on a few of my customers when I changed plant programs.

Any way I have posted this daylily and a couple other over in the Amateur Hybridizers section here on cubits. Here is the link to my post http://cubits.org/amateurhybridizers/thread/view/8888/

I got an Email that it was ready, but all I had to do to get it was open the Flower program. The rest was almost automatic. It said that an update was ready.

If it does not start that way for you I would try doing it manually. On the opening window about two thirds of the way down is a second box area (in my program the choices in those boxes are green, not blue like they are in the upper boxes). The third box down on the left says "Update". Click on it and a new window opens that says "Update Flower Program". Click on "Update Flower Program from Internet" and the program will check to see if there is a new update available.

Hope this helps.

Laura

I got a new computer and I've been having problems restoring everything back into my flower program. I have Carbonite online for backup. It shows it is restoring and the files seem to be there, but nothing is showing when I open the program. I have the program but it's empty, none of my data is there! I've tried to restore it probably 5 times now. I'm just sick. Sad Crying I've had the flower program for nearly three years and had nearly 900 registered daylilies and most of my seedlings in it, including all kinds of notes etc on each cultiver. That's a lot of info to lose and have to start all over again. My old computer was 9 years old and I really needed a new one, but this is making getting a new computer bitter sweet. I miss my flower program, I used it almost everyday Crying .

I just spent time in chat with Carbonite and found out where my restored files went. I was able to move them into my flower program and now everything is showing again. Well, everything but the pictures. But I can live with that! I'm a happy camper again. Thumbs up

Joy,
I back-up my plantstep files onto a exteral hard drive regularly. I also back up all my pictures. It was a great investment. I got the hard drive Christmas two year ago, on sale. I'm glad you were able to get your info back.
