Beautiful color on your cactus, Robin!! I have one similar to the paler one, which i love, but nothing like the color on the darker red one, which is really lovely.

I am just amazed at how early the Christmas/Holiday Cactus are this year. My Brazil babies are all showing buds and some blooms...how exciting is that.

Beautiful, JB. I was thinking the same thing because I wanted my Thanksgiving Dinner guests to enjoy them.

I have some Cajun Hibiscus and Mandevilla that I'm trying to overwinter inside, also.

Thanks, Robin. The Hibiscus was inexpensive because it had no ID so I bought 3. Don't know what the others look like yet. Hope they're different but, more importantly, I hope that they overwinter without too much trouble.

I kept hibiscus inside for years and it was very happy. Needed more water if I remember correctly.
Flowers are beautiful.
Here are a few others that are showing some signs of flowering.

I once stopped a Hibiscus from blooming by feeding with the same type fertilizing as I give to my roses which is extremely high in Phosphorus (the "K" in "NKP"). They like to be fed high in Potassium instead because they store Phosphorus and don't need to be given more.

Not on purpose. I just supposed that all flowering plants benefit with bonemeal or some kind of Phosphorus.

I am so bad at those things I usually just do not attempt any new things like mixing soil, or even fertilizer. If it ain't already mixed and in a bottle or bag, forgetaboutit. Green Grin!

I have just started doing a Cubits Database and that takes time. I have all my plants listed here on ATP so now it is time to work on Cubits. You may want to take a look at what I have been doing.
http://cubits.org/JBsPlants/

That is my home link and you can check out the database and store from there. Enjoy. Must get to work.

Thank you Allison. It is a lot of work but fun. Just wish I could do it all day and not just when I have time. I am also learning as I go and am now able to make some changes in my cubits for the better.

The Christmas Cactus like some sun, not much direct sun when really hot, they like to be left dry in between watering. If they feel dry on top it does not always mean they are dry on the bottom so stick your finger down in the soil and be sure they are dry. Then give them a good drink.
They will be fine. They need to have at least 11 to 14 hours of darkness each day, for a few weeks before they will set buds.

To brighten this snowy day, photos of just a few things currently blooming in my windows. Lots more blooming-just haven't gotten round to getting pics. Orchids are going crazy! And--a surprise in my west window w/light partially blocked by house next door...a bloom on a gerbena plant I yanked out of the ground last minute late last fall and brought in in hopes of keeping it alive til I could re-plant outdoors in spring.
