I found a bag of this potting stuff at my local nursery for 1.00. It said for Orchids and Bromalaids. The original price on the bag was crazy high.

Osmunda Fibre.

I have this bird house that does not have a bottom drain hole but notice it has a big hole in the front.

Anyway I am trying it with cheap plants and see what happens.

Cinta that is so cute, and will look wonderful indoors for the winter. That type of plant should love the Osmunda Fiber, since it is for orchids, should do well for these.
Will be interesting to see them at the end of winter. Thumbs up

That is so cool Cinta!

The little Starfish or Earth Star Brom's are on of my favorite plants too. (Cryptanthus bivittatus) I've been growing them for years, and they are so multi tasking;...from miniature gardens to cool tropical plantings along with many succulents that have the same needs. I feel they have been far to overlooked for what they have to offer... (-: }.

I love the planter, and those little guys absolutley thrive in Orchid type mediums like Pine bark fines with a little course sand and a small dash of peat moss added too.
Thumbs up

Thanks David. I threw a little soil on top. This stuff is really course so I did not know if it was good to hold any moisture.
