I was quite miffed to find these nasty springs winds which have been worse than usual this year took of a lovely green branch from my Kinshe tree peony. There was about three inches of shoot that might possibly form hardwood for next year, one primary and one lateral flower bud and two axillary shoots on this branch. I tried to tape it up, but failed. I put it in a vase but it isn't rehydrating. it's my oldest tree peony at six years old. Looks like I need to protect in future with staking. Sad

Could you try the tree grafting technique on the broken piece or do you think it's too late?

I wondered about that but my herbaceous peonies are all in the flower bud stage, so I'd be loathe to touch their roots. The branch has gotten a little less droopy, but not fully recovered. Maybe the main bud will open for me.
