FFO on Inner Space. Wish I had gotten a photo earlier in the day. This is a new one and I think is going to be nice.

Three of my seedlings.... I have not grown any new seed for several years. What seed I do make, I to a friend to plant with his seed crop. I do have about 25 seedlings that are from, I think it was seed planted in Fall of 2002 - so they have been moved and divided a few times. A few of them were just pulled out of the over crowded seedling area 2 years ago... so their plants are still small. Some, I know I want to keep - like these three - and others, I am still on the fence about composting them.

This one is a big bloom, with wide petals, and a very intense golden orange that never photographs correctly. It has Concrete Blonde in it as one of the parents, so it has some raised rib sculpting. Plant does not have great bud count or branching, and seems to get bud drop most years... so I just enjoy looking at it.

This one is odd. The garden name is "the tulip"... It has two Hanson's for parents.. but it is years and years old. Curt introduced one on the cover of his catalog this year that is very similar called Nude Yoga.

You have to see it to understand it. This is how it opens. Some people think it is a flower that is not opening. But, it has two parents that throw the pinching in the throat. So, it is SO pinched, that the petals stand straight up. The petals curl back behind, and make a tunnel that you can stick your finger in. I never seem to get a photo that really shows what it is doing.

It has been the most used pollen here since it's first bloom. Since I quit growing seedlings, I have given them to Curt to grow.

OK - now imagine this style, with the extreme pinching, crossed to some really long petaled thing like Bali Watercolor. I am thinking you **could** get a daylily that had petals that stand straight up for 2-3 inches, pinching, then the rest of the petal would lay over normally - giving a very three dimensional look.... or sort of like fireworks.

And, another favorite - that might be intro'd someday... This is a cross of one of Curt's Diploids which was a sibling to Never Say Never -- crossed to the wonderful Holly Dancer.

It is the darkest purple/black spidery I have ever seen. And, it has this cool red shiny marking right before the color goes to green in the throat.

My camera never photographs the color right - so I did try to make it as close as I could in photoshop. nearly impossible, as it is very dark.

Hope you do register that spider. It has both great color and form. The tulip shaped one is really interesting. It will be fun to see what Curt Hanson does with that form over the next 5 years. I am no longer starting seeds either, although I did start a few last winter that lalambchop gave me. Just not enough room or time. I will be getting rid of most of the seedlings I've saved over the years this fall.

Oh, Juli, as one who doesn't care much for spiders, that one is stunning! Do register it, by all means.

Here are a few from my Asheville garden, badly neglected and some showing rust, starting with Brilliant Circle:
