Some do and some do not
I find that Pat Stamile's candies and other dormants do well here
I have lost PRIMAL SCREAM,CROCODILE SMILE,GRAM'S DREAM,the DESIGNER series,and many others
With this heat almost all my daylies have gone dormant even the evergreens

I sure hope so.
So far this has been the hottest year on record with temps over 90 for the last two months. The last two days it reached 101 and the same is expected today
We normally have mid 80s with afternoon thunder showers.
This is no happening this year,

Charlie - I have all three kinds going dormant too. Long stretches of days around 100 degrees will do that to daylilies. I supposedly have sold some and am doing trades that I may not be able to deliver on because of the dormancy.

The dormancy thing is happening here also, more than I ever remember. I had dug out two beds of two year old seedlings a couple of weeks ago, now there are summer dormants coming up in both beds. Like Charlie some of Stamiles tet dormants do well here but most do poorly after the first year so as a rule I do not buy them. Dip ufs and spider dormants seem to do a lot better. I hardly grow any dips other than ufs and spiders as these are the only dips I mess with.

I don't think water will effect them, mine get watered every other day and some still go dormant, I think its the heat not water. In the photo you can see them coming back.Thumb of 2010-08-15/spunky1/4b993d
