I bet your BIL & nephew know what it is & have eaten it. You haven't lived till you've eaten snook! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Here are some links. Despite what Wiki says; I have never, ever, never seen foreign caught snook for sale in the US nor have I ever heard of it. it's illegal to catch it here & sell it so you can only get it by catching it yourself or by having a friend or relative who loves you enough to share their catch with you.

My brother in law and nephew have more than likely caught and eaten snook; I know I've heard them talk about it. Maybe I'll have to try it some time but I can't imagine it's better than mahi, flounder or my favorite ... grouper! Smiling

J: Nice Cabbage White and I love that first shot of the Buckeye!

Dave: Lucky you seeing the Gulf Frit ... and lovely Red-spotted Purple!

I'm still seeing a few Eastern Tiger and Giant Swallowtails at the Pentas flowers every so often and sporadic sightings of Monarch's visiting the Tropical Milkweed. I know that wasps predate on the Monarch caterpillars but do they eat the eggs?? A few days ago I say a Monarch laying eggs on the milkweed and a short while later a wasp was all over the same plant; constantly picking at the leaves.

Woo hoo ... I was outside a few minutes ago chatting with my hubby while he does some maintenance on the boat. I spotted three Gulf Frits in the yard. My next door neighbor has a huge Passiflora vine growing on the fence and they were flitting back and forth around the Passion Vine but I managed to get a couple of shots of one when it decided to rest on the Firebush; dorsal wing view and ventral wing view:

hi everybody. I've got a question for you. Is there a point at which the night time low temperatures become too low for caterpillars? I have a pretty good size black swallowtail cat on the fennel & would prefer to just let it be but our nights are getting pretty cold; low 40s and upper 30s. Then, there are some real small ones on the parsley too. The caterpillars are definitely in torpor first thing in the morning but as soon as the sun hits them they start getting active.

Wow! All really great pictures! I've never seen the Comma before…Gorgeous! I'm kinda late getting back in here…but it looks like you had a wonderful time Dave! Welcome back!
Ann, I've never had any Snook, but hubby has, and he agrees with you!

So, I was out weeding this morning, and saw these 2 that I hadn't seen before. They were absolutely in love with the Amaranth! I think I've determined them to be Long-tailed Skippers, but not sure…Can any of you say?
