Once, I was browsing the houseplants section at Lowe's. I didn't need anything. I never do. I just like to look. The clerk says, "If you see anything you like I'll mark it down for you." Whaaaat? Was I dreaming?! I brought home 3 plants I didn't need. Hilarious!

Oh my ... y'alls photo's make me want to go plant shopping! Smiling
The only thing I've added to my collection this year is the recent purchase of a Pink Trumpet Vine:

Tiffany: Is that Kalanchoe in your photo the Kalanchoe (Kalanchoe tetraphylla)
The one you show as Rhipsalis I at first thought was possibly Rhipsalis elliptica but the more I look at your photo and the length of those leaves it looks more like Queen of the Night (Epiphyllum oxypetalum) but once you get blooms the identify will be obvious.

Plants are so addictive and whenever I see pictures of one I don't have I think "I really need that!" Then I have to talk myself out of it because I have so many to take care of as it is.

Yep. I bought my porch swing at Lowes for half price due to being the last one and on display. (No parts for me to put together). I asked and the man said 'How about half price'. Of course and then he marked it about 75% off. Nice people there. Also a purchased my first Clivia there. It was out of bloom so it was marked about 90% off. It always bloomed for me every year. But now I have too many competition. Seems everyone is doing the same thing. Plants don't last too long on their discount racks.

Lin, yes, right Kalanchoe. The Epi had a tag that says "Epiphyllum oxypetalum" but is from EA and they don't seem to sell that, that I can find on their website. I was advised there are soooo many Epis, to withhold attaching a species for sure until blooms show up, just like you said.

Never seen Podrea... before. Very pretty! Any scent?

I'm glad there's not a L's anywhere near here. Closest one is an hour away. I get in enough trouble visiting a couple pitiful WM's occasionally, & trading cuttings.

Stush, our porch has hooks for a swing, but way too many plants for that. Oops!

Tiffany: Exotic Angel used to sell Epiphyllum oxypetalum and although many times their plants are mislabeled it could be they got it right with that one. Smiling If it's Rhipsalis, it might be Pseudorhipsalis ramulosa whose foliage turns a pretty red when grown in sun. Check out these photo's: http://www.google.com/search?q...

Oops, you asked about the Podranea scent ... it's said to be very fragrant but I can't detect anything. My husband said he smelled a faint scent.

Oh man, that's kind of frustrating that he can smell it but you can't. Maybe it's one of those night-scented ones?

TY for the info! I don't trust myself to not convince myself of a wrong name, probably best if I avoid speculation until flowers. When would one expect them on E oxy.? Is there a certain time of year, or is it like an Easter cactus, blooming any old time it feels like it?

I absolutely love EA! They're responsible for my having a large percentage of the different plants I've had over the past 15 or so years, and a mystery is fun. I don't care about missing or wrong labels (the latter of which can happen on so many levels after it leaves their operation.) Usually it can be solved browsing their pics but that tactic failed on this one. Knowing they really do sell E oxy. is good to know!

The purple/red leaves at the link are awesome, I need that!

I saw a gorgeous (or perhaps several) Podranea at the Huntington this past January. They had grown it only a few feet tall, but into a hedge-like formation. I've always loved it! I have my eye on it as a potential plant if we move.

I think I have Plumeria. Got this cutting 16 days ago. Still looks pretty good, enough to say I have Plumeria I think.

Edited to add missing pic!

J, it's worth it! I got to sniff the flowers on the mama plant for the first time ever. Unlike some others, this lived up to the decades-long hype and suspense, the mythical Frangipani. I was in the middle of babbling..., "Oh, they are taller than me! I don't know if I have room for any more plants this big in (sniff, SNIIIIIIFFFFF) What? Who said that? Can I have 2 pieces please?! There's latex sap in them? I don't care, I'll just make sure I don't get it on me!" You know I'd be happy to trade when there's enough plant to cut, but hope you find some sooner. That could be end of next summer at my end, no idea what to expect in the growth season.

I didn't see any white or yellow Thanksgiving cacti that I'd hoped to on Saturday, but did find this Aloe aristata. Thought it was a Haworthia until I found it on Costa Farms website after I got home:

And Senecio crassissimus:

Love the purple spots where the leaves meet the stem!

Tiffany: You will love the Plumeria ... the blooms are very fragrant! I had about a dozen Plumeria's but when we moved two years ago I gave all but one to a neighbor. I had my husband plant my one remaining tree in the yard this past spring and I'm hoping we don't have any extreme cold this winter or it will be a goner unless I can get out there and take some cuttings.

Love the Aloe, looks like one I have or had. I need to go out and see if I still have it or if it's perhaps one I gave to a friend with some other succulents last year. That Senecio is a new one to me ... love the purple coloration at the base of the leaves!

Oooh, when will they invent scratch'n'sniff monitors? Fantastic I'm sure, beautiful without the scent of course too. What a winner! TY for sharing. Sending warm winter vibes your way! Is it too big to cover with a sheet? I was trying to NOT get into these, but accidentally (eagerly) smelled those flowers when invited to a new friend's house. Oops & heck yes! Hope she's as happy with the 'return on her investment,' plants I brought to trade back. Nothing was so great as Plumeria, IMVHO.

Maybe you (or someone reading) would know - how does Frangipani figure into the mix? Is that one type of Plumeria, or is that a common name for all Plumerias? I got confused in the midst of goog'ing & decided this would be one of those things to best hear from someone, not just try to muddle through what may or may not be correct reading material.

This plant is *kinda* new, got this summer, but the bloom is definitely new! Well, technically, it's 2 plants, the one on the right is almost completely hidden by its' bloom. Lithops.

Frangipani is the common name for Plumeria. I copied and pasted the following from Wikipedia:

[ The common name "Frangipani" comes from an Italian noble family (itself literally meaning "breads-breaker(s)" in Italian), a sixteenth-century marquess who invented a plumeria-scented perfume. Many English speakers also simply use the generic name "plumeria". ]

That Lithops bloom is so pretty and I love your "Flapjack" Kalanchoe Kalanchoe (Kalanchoe tetraphylla)
I have two of them and one is in more sun and is very red in color.

Tiffany,
Is that bottom TC white or yellow? looks white w/a lot of pink but the buds show yellow on my browser.. i bought a couple at my Martins store Fri that looked like it was white w/lot of pink, which i attributed to being cold, but it has warmed up here over the weekend and now the blooms look a pale yellow but my camera shows it almost white.
i will try for a pic outside tomorrow and see how that looks. It's weird!! I think they had 1 more left , will go back tomorrow and look
