While looking for a certain morning glory I've stumbled upon a possible search glitch or maybe an entry glitch ... I don't know but I want to let you know.

Some of the entries have a hyperlink included in the parenthesis for example: Morning Glory (Ipomoea nil 'Early Call Mixed') in this case The Ipomoea nil has a hyperlink which returns this result:

Browsing by genus: Ipomoea%20nil
View plants by cultivar: A B C...
No results found!
Morning Glory (Ipomoea 'Early Call Mixed') and Morning Glory (Ipomoea 'Chocolate Silk')
I've also noted that not all, i.e. Japanese Morning Glory (Ipomoea nil 'Hatsu Arashi') have a hyperlink within the parenthesis and I don't know anything about the way it is supposed to be to know whether they should or not *Blush*
Thank you for the best database on the planet!

I believe it's an entry glitch, Angele. The problem seems to be that some of these were entered into the database with Ipomoea nil as the genus rather than with Ipomoea as the genus and nil as the species. I'm not sure how they can be corrected now. The entries could be re-created, of course, but I can't find a way of getting a complete list of the incorrect ones because the inaccurate "Ipomoea nil" genus exists on the main list of genera, but it doesn't display a list of the plants affected. I think this is a problem for @dave to solve.

Let's not recreate these for some technical reasons I don't have time to explain right now.

There are only three plants with the genus of 'Ipomoea nil' and they are:

Morning Glory (Ipomoea 'Early Call Mixed')

Morning Glory (Ipomoea 'Chocolate Silk')

I'll edit them right now to remove the ' nil' part. Let's see if that fixes it.

Okay, I ended up deleting 'Chocolate' since it was a duplicate. (Moved the one image over to the pre-existing entry).

Now that's done, there's no plants with ' nil' in their name anymore and that should fix that. Future new additions won't be accepted since there's no entries with that wrong genus any more.

Dave, I'm sorry if we are not on the same page here but there a many Ipomoea with nil in their names. You don't need to explain it to me if I'm just not understanding but a search of Ipomoea returns many with nil. I've clicked on several but I'm not finding the same problem I found earlier. It is strange to me that I found the only 3 by accident this morning! Shrug!

Angele, nil is the species, so it will show up in a lot of cultivar names. The problem you ran into was due to an error in which someone entered nil as part of the genus name.

Thanks for that explanation Zuzu, I understand Smiling
I saw the problem on the 2 Chocolates and then clicked on the Early Call Mixed just as a random choice to see if I could duplicate the error... kinda freaky

Really freaky that you accidentally chose the only other one with the problem. I might call on you for lottery numbers. Smiling
