I grew this from a cutting from my friend in SC. It was years ago and this is the first bloom on the end of a very long (five ft.) stem. It is so beautiful I would love to have a name for it. I have no idea how to tell all those white epis apart.
If anyone can help me I would be eternally grateful.
Looks very much like Epiphyllum strictum to me. Goes also by the name Epiphyllum phyllanthus var hookeri. This one has very pointy petals. http://www.mattslandscape.com/...

Absolutely wonderful. Thank you. I noticed it is closed now and the article says it is nocturnal. So I am sure that is what it is. I am so happy to know it has a name. You are wonderful.

My message to you did not show up on my computer. This is the second time I lost a post. I wonder what is happening? You saw it because you answered it. Mystery????

It was closed and had some bugs on it but I tried to smell what I could and there was no odor. I have a great sense of smell and honestly, no odor. Sorry.
The smell will be gone by the time it is closed and done. At that point there would not be a need any longer to lure a pollinator with a nice scent....
You are quite welcome. It's a lovely bloom! I'm not sure if my plant is still alive ... it's planted in the ground at our other house and I haven't been over there in two years so I'm not sure if it's survived our tenants who are not gardeners.
