If you click on "Plant Database", you can search for plant names close to to those.

Then you can find people who have that plant, and some will say "available to trade as seed" or "available to trade as plant".

Then you can contact them, since there are many people willing to trade who don't check this forum to see who is asking.

Also, you can add the plants that look good to you to YOUR list, and mark them as "WANT". Then anyone looking at that database entry will see that you WANT it, and they may check your HAVE lists to see what you might be trading for it.

So far, the only member I see who listed some of your WANTS as "available to trade or sell as seed" is JonnaSudenius .

search on: Black Lenten Rose, find:
Hellebore (Helleborus x hybridus 'Black Sloe')
Hellebore (Helleborus x hybridus 'Black Knight')
Lenten Rose (Helleborus x hybridus 'Mardi Gras Black Shades')

Some plants close to your names:

Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris 'Black Barlow') (Looked deep blue to me)
Silver-Laced Primrose (Primula 'Victoriana Silver Lace Black')
Cape Primrose (Streptocarpus 'Black Panther')
Evening Primrose (Oenothera lamarckiana 'Black Magic')

If you're interested in a semi-no-name Columbine that popped up in one of my beds, probably C. vulgaris, with dark purple or dusky chocolate-purple blooms, let me know. It was probably originally from Columbine, 'Harlequin', Mixed Colors from Burpee. If so, it took several years to germinate or become big enough to notice. Let's call it 'Sine Nomine' Columbine, thoguh most people just call it "NOID".

I have a lot of those seeds. I haven't tested for viability yet since some Columbines might want stratification.to have a high germination rate.

Maybe the nodding, drooping blooms look Gothic. Or depressed.

Sorry, I see that you already know all about Plant Lists.
Isn't Cherry Bomb an F1 hybrid chili pepper?

I bet there are black daturas.
Devil's Trumpet (Datura metel 'Black Currant Swirl')

P.S. You can search by Characteristic - Bloom Color, other, black.

Thanks for the offer and the tips. I just joined today but I've been a member on gardenweb since 2007. I have the black currant swirl. I just got those from a trade last month. They are quite lovely!

Thank you! I made the avatar of the black flowers I currently own. I figured if I post here and on GW, I could possibly increas my chances in finding the rest of my wish list seeds.

Good luck! I've never seen a good system for helping seed traders who have specific desires.

The Hog Wild Piggy Swap is the best I've seen. Many gardeners (we call ourselves piggies) do a lot of work, listing all the seeds they're willing to trade at the moment. Each piggy has their own page or pages of offers. (My trade lists are not up to date, but I keep thelink in my signature block. Here is the list-of-lists, but people won't be bringing them up to date for another month or so. Last year, there were five pages of piggies.

http://cubits.org/ellasgarden/db/hogwildseedswap/browse.php

Then, when Ella drops the flag, everyone "oinks" for specific things that they want. First come, first served.

The secret is that you don't have to find MATCHING Haves and Wants. Everyone gives and everyone gets. Often people will receive and give 100 or more varieties in one year's swap.

Part of the swap is that people also list their wishlist items, generally and specifically.

Always people have many more varieties than they can list, including ones that they would just give away to ANYone, but when they know that good old So-and-So wants the precious XYZ, they give that XYZ seed to old So-and-So because they've become friends while giving generously to so many people.

It's a free-for-all where the line is blurred between giving and swapping. After participating for a few years, I mostly have more seeds than I can plant of the sorts that I'm most interested in. I feel like I owe the Piggy community as many seeds as I can offer, since I've been showered with so many in the past.

Ahh, well.

Good luck!

Please if you find good ways to arrange trades, or think of something that Dave might add, please post the ideas. Dave is a very good software engineer!

Gothicgardener, I also love the Hog Wild Piggy Swap. Please come and join us. I will offer at least 1 or 2 'black' plants and I'm sure there will be other participants who can offer some of your wishes. Just make a have and wish list and we will see what we can send to you.

Wasn't @Sharon talking about doing a black garden some time back? I could be misremembering, but maybe she might have some suggestions for other "black" flowers?

I'm sure it's still there and in the comments were lots of black bloom suggestions.

Also Dahlias , Arabian Night, Chat Noir, Nuit d'ete, and for spice dark leaved Dahlias with red flowers (don't goths like to have red slashes running through?), so try Bishop of Llandaff.

Dahlias have presence, acquilegias are a see through spring plant so dahlias will give a little scale and depth in the late summer to Halloween.

I have 'Black Barlow' and Geranium phaeum 'Sambobor' (the flowers are dark purple and there is a dark blotch on the leaves). I will be listing those in the Piggy Swap.

I have had a "Dark Side Garden" for years now, and I am still increasing my stock.

I am not sure I have the seeds from my dark dahlia. I will have to check the bag.

The Black Mondo Grass would be something to aquire, as mine grows quite slowly...not yet enough to share.

Welcome! to our happy little world of plants... Smiling
