Yes, it's fall...cooler weather and less humidity; it's just wonderful.
Nice colors, Anna. Don't have the yellow lycoris and only 3 of the red bloomed for me.

Beautiful photos for October, ladies! I have a few blooming, but not very pretty yet.

Pretty! Pretty! Pretty! I really do love the respite we get from the intense heat when October arrives. We have had a bit too much rain, however. I never thought I would say that! LOL But the second round of flowers this time of year is fabulous.

Yes, it would be nice if October could be 60 days long! We just get used to the cool weather, and then it gets cold and dreary mid-November!

Pretty soon the leaves will be falling. I rake about 15 bags per week. Then the dormant stuff will have to be cut back to the ground. There will be so much work I won't worry about everything else. Glare

Sandi., is that your dwarf barbados cherry? I was surprised to read in the Plant Files that you have it in sun.
What are those yellow flowers.

Yes, the cherry is in nearly full sun out by the sidewalk and driveway. It's really easy to root small cuttings too.

I will try rooting it. It is so beautiful and it does well in the shade up here (in the north Hilarious! ) Sometimes a challenge to find colorful shade plants.

Crape Myrtle. Have two of the scraggliest, scrawniest, stickly ones you've ever seen by my back porch. Going to take them out at some point. In the meantime, though, they help remind me why I do love October... Smiling

Monarchs are migrating! Our daughter just called and said they spotted Monarchs flying along Loop 360! I was trying to remember when we had so many here overnight. They were hanging in the oak trees. I had no clue about why or where Monarchs migrated then.
I search for a thread on the "old" site and found the first post I made. Notice the time of the month when they were here. Shortly after that post, I found them out front in the oaks, just packed on top of each other! I've looked for them every October since then.

Is anyone else seeing migrating Monarchs today? Our backyard must have at least a hundred...and they seem to be stopping for a drink, some nectar, and a little rest. I just noticed them about an hour ago. Could they be moving ahead of the cool, wet weather headed our way?
