Found this hiding among my toad lily which is about to bloom (yah!) It's the pink spiky thingy...

It looks like a type of Smartweed. Possibly Polygonum punctatum.

That looks like Polygonum, smartweed. It is a member of the buckwheat family. I am not sure which species but this link should help. It is also called Persicaria.

I believe a lot of the Polygonum species have been moved to the Persicaria genus including Polygonum punctatum that I suggested in my previous post.
