I have 2 succulents growing in a container I have no name for. Both are growing next to each other.

The segmented flat paddle one with the reddish tinge at bottom left in first picture. It gets covered in flowers in late Fall and Winter. Little yellow flowers form simultaneously at every indenture in the leaves from bottom to tips. It has nice hanging basket qualities. I believe it is some sort of Euphorbia (Isn't everything Ha!) I started searching a while back and searched a long while before I even tipped the family Euphorbias iceberg! Thank you.

The tall leggy plant covered in spines loses it leaves in occasionally. I wonder if it blooms? I don't know what it is either, and have never seen a bloom if it does?

That really "mean" looking one reminds me of Euphorbia milii…But I don't think it's quite right. I feel certain you would see a E.milii blooming. Blinking

David, the flat segmented plant spilling over the container edge looks like Rhipsalis elliptica: Rhipsalis elliptica

My first thought on the second plant was also Euphorbia millii but as Tara said, something isn't quite right.

Or possibly this one:

I have a few Rhipsalis but no longer have R. elliptica whose leaves do blush red when they receive a bit of sun. These are old photo's but I thought I'd post them for comparison, solid green when grown in bright shade, blushed red when given more sun and tiny little yellowish flowers:

Thank you very much Lynn and Tara,

Lynn, you were absolutely right aboput the paddle segemented one. It is Rhipsalis elliptica! I just made 3 new hanging baskets and don't like selling things I don't know the name of! Smiling
That second thorny Cactus is very tough and rigid and almost woody. Its not neriifolia but it is close I'm sure. I believe it is a Euphorbia.

Tara;...It does have a lot of similarities to crown of thorns. Thank you for trying to help! Smiling

It looks like it's related to the Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii).

I agree, I thought someone already ID'd it as E. milii?

The plant in question has very symmetrical rows of vertical thorns and the same pattern of tiny symmetrical leaves from bottom to top. Notice the deep vertical grooves on the stems in between the thorns too... Thank you! Smiling

You know, I think I have seen this thing before - how about Alluaudia comosa? Or Alluaudia humbertii?

Ya beat me to it Ursula!

No doubt it alludia, a plant I had and miss very much!

Leaves emerge oriented as most leaves are, and then twist 180 degrees!

They can get big!
There thorns aren't very sharp.
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

Thanks for the great lead Ursula! Thumbs up

After a little research following your lead, I was able to confirm it as Alluaudia procera (Syn: Didiera procera)

This site will tell more about it for anyone interested.

Thank you everybody!

I appreciated your input to Swayback, and especially bringing attention to the fact the thorns are actually not as painful as they look! Smiling Thumbs up
