Nice combination. Really love dark foliage, especially purple. What is the name of that beautiful small tree? Thumbs up

It is Prunus x cistena. It came with the property. I've only been gardening here for 4 years now but brought most of my plants from my other property. This poor tree has begun to decline because of insect damage.

There are many trees with purple foliage. Fagus sylvatica Atropurpurea Group, but in time a very large tree.

Also Fagus sylvatica 'Pendula' it also has great fall color. Both get large over time. But let your kids worry about the size someday. Or Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy', one of my favorites because it is perfect for a small garden, or the many Acer palmatum disectum selections with purple foliage. Good luck searching.
