I grew these canna from seed. I know how to store them. Just haven't had roots like this in the past. Should I trim the roots before storing them?

Looks like they were happy. I would cut about 1/2 of the roots off......

I've been talking to folks about Aroid storage and some folks believe letting the leaves and roots dry up on their own allows the tubers to absorb nutrients from them. With Canna, the gain may be offset by moisture loss by the rhizome? Shrug! Paul's advice seems a good compromise.

I have ten more yet to dig up. There are five each in two pots. I will leave one pot as is and just stick it in the garage, maybe trim tops as they totally dry and wither. The other five I will dig up, trim tops but not the roots and just store in a paper bag.

These first five I did trim roots and put them in a paper bag which I planned to keep in the garage.

I will see what method is best
