There was a huuuuge storm cloud that reached all the way from the College Station to the Gulf Coast this morning, hitting my area at around 5:30 a.m. And I had to drive home from work in it! One moment it was clear and then I drove right into the blinding storm, making it crazy to drive on the streets. The sky was green, tornado-green and debris was flying all over. There was local street flooding and branches blocking roadways. What normally takes me 20 minutes to drive home took and hour, often traveling stop and go at 10 mph strictly because I couldn't see ahead of me. There were two things on my mind: 1) SO GLAD it was a Sunday morning and not a Rush Hour Day! and 2) I have GOT to get home to pull my Plumeria out of the winds and into safety. We are all safe and the sun is shining today.

Glad you are safe! We had it come through Huntsville about 5am. Lightening knocked out the electricity til almost 8. However, I am very thankful for the rain we received!! We got 3.5 inches plus a lot of limbs in the yard.

Came through here at around 4:30 AM, but without much fanfare. Further east, they had a gully washer. That must have been scary, Cheryl. Had to smile at your concern for your plummies! Glad you're safe. Guess it's time to put away all the pretties.
I finally ordered greenhouse plastic Saturday. Ouch!!

Anyone had flooding from last night? Hearing news reports, sounds like it was pretty bad in places! Sandi, everything okay in your area?

We have high water in the bayous from the accumulated rains but not to flood level. I know there is local high water and street flooding though. (Houston area) We are safe from high water. Always have been, but tell that to FEMA who insists we are in a flood zone and demand our money for flood insurance.

Linda, we had lots of flooding around us, but not on our hill. I saw the photos of the golf course out here. It was scary. Barton Creek was out of its banks again. The rain was nonstop yesterday, but really got serious about 11 pm. It was some comfort to see that the weather guys were up too most of the night. Lady Bird lake is out of its banks.

I posted on the greenhouse forum about our roofers going above and beyond the call of duty yesterday morning. We would have had insurance adjusters here today had they not worked in the rain yesterday.

Me too. Glad the roofers came when they did, good timing. Flash floods can be so scary in central Texas. We only had one inch of rain, a nice rain without problems.

Many years ago when I worked at Kmart, the roofers removed a large section of roofing and left for the day. The next morning the entire automotive deparment and half the patio were fooded big time. They had us throwing tarps over merchendise, but it was a bit to late for that.

The floods hit the part of town that could least afford it. Water chest deep in the dead of night where it had rarely flooded before.
