Dave, I see no way that I can remove a recommendation I gave to an online nursery at the beginning of this year.
How can I remove it?

I don't currently have a way to let people delete their own reviews but I can see that this would be useful and necessary in the future as things change with companies.

In the meantime, I can delete it for you if you let me know which company it is from which you want your review deleted.

Lynn, it might actually be more useful for you to simply edit your previous recommendation. That way, we could see as consumers that a company that previously was up to snuff has now had some problems. Perhaps they will even correct their problem, in which case you could edit again. Just a thought. Unless their service is now so horrible you don't even want your name associated with theirs (ha ha).

Thank you Dave.
I think I like Deb's idea of doing an edit. It is hard for me to do, as I don't like to give negative reviews, but that is the only way to let people know if there is something that needs to be addressed.

Deb, their service isn't in question, but the identification of their plants are. They have been contacted by several customers as to incorrect ID of some of their plants, but refuse to make corrections. Even though links verifying the correct plants were sent to them. Sad

Okay, if we don't want to put negative reviews, I need some one to delete all of my recommendations for Simply Succulents.
Thank you Dave.

Lynn, I read your revised review and found it helpful. I did not think it was negative so much as it was informative. Sharing information, good or bad, is always welcome in my book. But, I suppose you could edit out your edit, which then leaves your rather glowing review which is not exactly what you want to impart now, correct? Are we limited to only good reviews for some reason?

They're called "Recommendations," so the list should only include the nurseries we're recommending, as I see it. This is such a litigious society that it's probably better to avoid negative reviews on a list of companies. I think negative comments can be made in the forums without causing any legal problems for the owner of the site, but adding negative comments to the "Recommendations" feature might cause these problems.

I figure we can allow the watchdog to continue to handle the negative feedback and we'll handle the positive recommendations. Smiling

Hmm. I suppose that makes some sense, but then what's the point? Wouldn't that penalize any company which has not yet been recommended - a no-vote could easily be construed as a negative. But, I so rarely use mail order that this is all rather philosophical to me, and I will politely bow out. Carry on...

I understand Dave. Thumbs up
I am not saying that they don't have wonderfully healthy plants, but that they do not do a very good job of keeping their inventory up to date on correctness.
If I am just interested in getting some healthy plants, or plants that I know by their photos are correct, it wouldn't be an issue.
But we now have ATP members that now have quite a few new NOIDs in the collections.
Very sad and disappointing. Smiling

The feature isn't intended as a warning against certain companies at all. Rather, it's specifically to reward a company for being recommended by the members. If a company isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't a good company, only that they aren't specifically recommended by any ATP members.

A fine point. Perhaps a note to that effect on the Recommendations page might be in order?

Yes. My only thought was that I've noticed that a number of people don't seem to quite understand that the Recommendations are for exceptional companies, not just for general feedback on all suppliers. As I said, a fine distinction.

I think in looking through the reviews posted that everyone gets it. This only came up because a previously good experience is overshadowed by a new negative experience.

I'm happy with how the feature is setup.
