I'm pretty sure it is Sleepy Orange - Abaeis nicippe but here is the entire butterfly if someone else would like to confirm or offer another id.

Thanks for the confirmation Smiling That is the site I use for identification, using Regional Species Checklists, & even though I've been getting to know my visitors for 9 years now I still hesitate with several of the families.

I haven't seen you about for ages angele, nice to 'see' you again! Smiling

You are right to be cautious, there are many similar butterflies, it takes a lot of practice to spot slight differences. Once you have the eye, and you know which species you regularly have then it gets easier. There is a pattern near the bottom tip of the wing not visible on your butterfly but the rest does look to fit.
