I'm so happy you're posting Hurray!

It prompts me to get off my butt and upload some pics I've been sitting on!

Buds:
Thumb of 2013-12-02/dellac/dfb772 A couple of sepals on Loreto somehow became unhinged at the base, stopped growing (of course), and were carried on upwards connected still at the tip of the bud. Never seen such a thing happen before!

Thumb of 2013-12-02/dellac/36aeddMartagon seedling.

All the wet weather making the colours run in Spring Pink (hope I've learned from the forum that this is weather washing and not virus! Leaves show no virus):

Lastly for now:

Bud caps on Gran Paradiso. It and Loreto are both from Vletter & den Haan ~ perhaps there is some shared background?

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

All the extra water you've been having makes them overly turgid and brittle (cells so full of water that they have no give) . Although I've never seen that sepal scenario before (and thanks for sharing), I think you will find that all parts of the plants are relatively brittle also, and easier to snap when bent.

Anthony, I like that Bright Diamond. It's supposed to be lightly scented too. I might order a couple

I really like that one. ^

Bud caps! Now I have a name for them. It makes sense that things are especially brittle this year - the LAs especially snap a tepal if you look sideways at them - but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a shared bloodline making both Loreto and Gran Paradiso particularly susceptable to a little (or much!) increased turgor. Thanks both for sharing Smiling

Anthony, where did you get that Harlequin from? I wish somebody would reintroduce them because they're really a colorful bunch. Chocolate Canary reminds me of them.

That Harlequin is really beautiful.

Della, it will be interesting to see if your blooms with the 'caps' open with missing tepals or are completely formed. If complete, then you truly have bud caps.

I really like the pink-yellow blend of your Harlequin type lily, Anthony. I bought some Harlequin type lilies from M-Z Bulb a few years back and they were all yellow or orange with spots. Upon close inspection all six were different from each other. They didn't last long in my garden.

Several years ago Judith Freeman offered her rendition of Harlequin-like lilies. I wish I had ordered some, I believe they were were offered only one or two years.

Matrix x Fire Eyes is a lovely colour, Anthony!

And not 'real' bud caps on Loreto I'm afraid - it opened sans two sepals. But looking good now with a few more buds open:

Thumb of 2013-12-06/dellac/4404d8

Tiny Padhye is a few days away from opening:

Thumb of 2013-12-06/dellac/8cfe51 The sepals are distinctly shorter than the petals.

Crossover, another short potting variety:

And the buds on Eyeliner are slowly opening:
