I have a small collection of Christmas and Holiday Cactus and thought this is a good time to begin to show you the blooms as they begin to open. They will bloom from now until February or March and everyday is a thrill when new one shows me her beauty. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
So far these are blooming:

This is the old fuchsia plant I have had for years

I agree Beautiful! Mine hasn't started producing buds either. Seems kind of late to not even see some production. Or maybe I'm just really anxious!

JB: You have some really beautiful Holiday Cactus! I have one large plant and one small one but mine don't even begin to bud up until usually late November/early December timeframe ... sometimes they are in full radiant bloom in mid December. It's still pretty warm down this way though, 81ºF right now with high humidity. This is what my plant looks like right now and the second photo was taken December 19th last year:

Lin, I enlarged your first shot to see if maybe you were lucky enough to have a "true" Christmas Cactus since it is a late bloomer. But, you do not, it is a hybrid and maybe because it needs some chilling down time and "dark" time, it just decided to wait until later to bloom. They are so worth waiting for but that plant should be blooming soon.
I am building a database on Cubits.org for my plants and when I am finished I will post it. It is open now f but I only have one entry in it so far. It is a lot of work but it will have some good info on it .
I would love to keep collecting but I am running out of room. Rolling on the floor laughing Don't you love those "Brazil" ?

We got both Thankgiving and Christmas cactus. Only the Thankgiving cactus is going wild again this year. It continued blooming for several months thru both holidays last year so I think it will do again this time.
JB, very nice collection and growing on your part.

Same soil, same pot, no nothing added. Total neglect on our back porch untill it got too cold to leave out.

This year the little holiday cactus that I bought for $1 two years ago Is finally a huge blooming mess! Sheltered outdoor site like a covered porch seems to be the bet place for these folks. Then when it gets too cold(around late October in my part of the world) I move it indoors and the shock of less light seems to cue it to make buds. It's at my office and I can't wait to go in this morning to see it covered in blooms, they were getting ready to bloom Friday. It's a little early for thanksgiving, needs to get its calendar straight.

Wow so many pretty blooms. I got a medium size hanging basket of Thanksgiving cactus yesterday from a local gardener. It has a few buds on it.

A few years ago I had one blast buds when I moved it from the screened porch to inside the house. Sad Don'tcha just hate it when that happens?

Tomorrow I'm going to look for holiday cactus at Lowes. I found a yellow one a few years ago but it died. Last year I only saw pink and red.

Oh, I'd love to find a yellow one; don't think I've ever seen one for sale around here. I saw a few at Wal-Mart today, in full bloom (probably forced at the greenhouse) but I passed on buying any since I'm limited on space as it is. Green Grin!
