The plant is about six or seven years old. I began it from a cutting.

I brought the plant into the house because a storm has been announced.

It opened more blooms today.
I started this plant from a cuttings about seven years ago. It is a good grower and a good bloomer.

Wow... I always had and then gave away my Epi.
Why?
Cause simply they just didn't "perform" for me.
Shape of plants were bad, no blooms... and let's face it, unless you tie the stems around a stake (making the whole plant look ugly), they can take a lot of space, which an apartment gardener just doesn't have enough of.
BUT...seeing this one makes me feel a bit sorry for giving mine away.

Hi Calin. I'm sorry epis didn't perform for you.
I never tie the stems. I like the natural shape of the plant.
They really have beautiful flowers, though, I must say, they don't last more than two or three days.
I'm glad you liked my plant.

I really enjoy looking again and again at your photos Cecilia! My epi took 3 years before it gave me its first bloom. Do you keep your plant outdoors all year long?

I keep most of my plants outdoors all year long, although I try to put the epiphyllums protected under a vine. But our Winters are mild. It doesn't snow here and we have only a few days ( no more than four or five) with temperatures below freezing

Oh just like our area, mild winters as well! I have kept my epis out too, they enjoy the winter rains. Smiling

Our winters have been mild also, for the last couple of years. Although the 'Farmer's Almanac' is calling for a very cold winter this year. It's my second year having a E.oxypetalum, and I'm trying to decide what to do with them…Currently they are on a covered deck…So I'm not concerned with frost…But low temps are my concern now. I'm thinking that either indoors, or at least a cover will be called for if temps drop to freezing. And as I write this, I doubt that a 'cover' would be enough! I guess I need to start thinking about where they'll live indoors!
