Ursula, a detail you might want to know. I looked up Packchong on OrchidWiz and it doesn't exist. They are all spelled Pakchong.
As far as the Max. tenuifolia, I did repot in a deeper pot and lowered it in the medium but the key for me is to stake it with some thin stakes (I have three) and tie it up at about a third of the way up to keep the side pieces from falling out of the pot. In other words, I treat it like my floppy garden plants.

Kathy, I've seen a few listings where they break the word into Pak Chong. I may have to fix my tag.

Absolutely, Kathy! I have to catch myself here, too many sloppy mistakes on my part! At least I didn't misspell it in the July thread....Thank you!
I corrected it!
No - it is Vanda ( syn Ascda) Pakchong Smile, registered as such, not Pak Chong.

About the Maxi. Tenuifolia; I bought mine in a 5" basket of green moss (not the long fiber), ( full sun, let dry slightly before watering) from Andy, and waited 4 years for blooms. He does sell the smaller ones potted though, and at the last show he showed them to me and pointed out the extended pbulbs. According to him the ones that lay against the medium are not ready to bloom...the extended ones are. Just repeating what I was told. Mine was growing through the basket, so is now in an 8" basket of moss and living outdoors unless we get more rain than usual this winter.

Thanks for the info all. Now I'm more confused than ever on what to do. Perhaps I'll just add some bamboo stakes to hold it more upright & see what happens.
Blessed are the Quilters for they are the Piecemakers.

This thread has really taken off while I have been doing other stuff. I have talks tomorrow and Wednesday and two more next week so I don't know when I will catch up.

Very nice start to the month, Ursula. How can one not love the lip on the Bc Binosa 'Tetraploid'? Just beautiful! Also of note is the Ascda. Rachaburi Beauty. Love the color. Melanie also posted a very nice Ascda. Pakchong Smile. Ursula mentioned it is now called a Vanda. It seems that all Ascocentrums have been converted to Vandas so the cross Vanda X Ascocentrum which used to be Ascocenda is now Vanda X Vanda which is, of course, Vanda. I hope that helps.

Elaine, very nice dancing lady!

I went to the OC to take some pictures but my camera ran out of juice just like what happened to Melanie. Here are the two I got before the power failure. The first is a NOID Catt that blooms for me every year and I just love the color. I have had it since I started collecting orchids and it seems to always be happy.

Jim, that's really a fabulous Catt. I'd like to name it "Jim's Antique Elegance". Looks like it's made of porcelain.

I charged up the camera last night and went out into the OC to try and catch up. Warm and windy today and I am off to the Moonlight Garden Circle this evening to talk about dooryard fruit. They meet in a facility overlooking the bay so it should be pretty.

First up is Blc. Mem. Vida Lee 'Limelight'.

Wow, Jim what a show! I'd think you will win a ribbon at the next orchid club meeting if that specimen of 'Little Stars' is in full bloom by then.

Love the orange Brada's spidery flowers.
