This is why I divide dahlias when I dig them up. Storage space for undivided dahlia clumps is huge! The photo shows what I compost for about 35 dahlia clumps.

I divided mine before storing for the first time. Actually I used to just replant mostly whole clumps. I was shocked at how much Material I got rid of by diving after digging! So cool to store all my dahlias in just the space of 2x3!

So what are you getting rid of there?? It looks like you are throwing away bulbs. Confused

When I divide the dahlia clumps, I end up with a lot of waste. Some of the tubers are too small to save, others have no eyes and of course some get damaged. I try to save 2-3 of the best tubers from each clump that I dig. That’s more than I need for the next year.
