Double Rosedale. 1988. Another Australian cultivar. It was bred by the sisters Maureen Flanders and Monica Mead, I think. The bloom may sit too close to the foliage for some people. However, some blooms can handle this well, as here, where the chartreuse throat reflects the colour of the foliage and buds. As well, the green foliage gives a clean outline and intensity to the pink bloom.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

Very pretty! It sure has nice coloring.

I like daylilies that sit above the foliage, but I saw that this one is only 18" tall so if I had it next to the house, it would be okay. And like someone else mentioned, the foliage can be cut back if it gets in the way of the blooms. I may try that next year on a couple of mine.

I've been known to cut my foliage back for visual aesthetics. I have several daylily plants that have short bloom stems/scapes.

I like short scapes. Works well on this one, at any rate. Thumbs up

I agree, too! It has been a pleasure to see the daylilies you are growing especially those hybridized in Australia. The pink double is beautiful.

Many thanks for the kind comments!
This is another one of the Australian hybridiser Scott Alexander. "Ethereal". From what I can see he has never registered this one. I don't know why because it is one of my favourites. Lots of buds, extended flowering period, good substance, nice surface. It has a definite presence. Not tall though (62.5cm 25"/ 15cm 6").
We should start using some more aesthetic terms for daylilies. For this one I want to say "Coherent" - an aesthetically consistent relationship of parts

What lovely, kind people you are. Many thanks.
This is another of Helena Seabird. I suspect this is what it normally is supposed to look like. But cross my heart today is the first time I have seen mine with the sepals curling back and not erect. Oh dear - ruined a good story.

Had the privilege of visiting the Sydney area in 1994--in August. Coming from Texas, it took me awhile to get used to the fact that it was Winter, but, since you are generous enough to post your photos, the flipped seasons work in our favor, here. I can promise you that we will be posting TONS of photos in a few months for your Fall/Winter daylily fix. Big Grin Hilarious!
