Frilly, reading back to see where I got confused... Now I think you were giving Sandy a suggestion, not asking for yourself? I forgot you said above yours were blooming this year & that's how you found them. Sorry! I didn't put mine that deep in OH, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it? Sounds like you have enough to experiment with different depths to observe the differences, if any. I would be fascinated if it sounds like fun to you.
I do agree that spreading them out more when replanting gives each a chance to multiply much more readily.
Dianne, I've traded the L. radiata a few times. I'd love to do more, and still seeing bulbs "in" shrubs this year that shouldn't be where they are at all. Are you able to see the Amaryllis at this time (to know where they are?) That's the only thing that stops me from trading the Lycoris at times - no idea exactly where they are w/o the leaves up! Please send me a private if you'd like to do a trade in the near future. Do-able at my end.
