I was wondering if there are any lilies that do not have a scent? I am interested in the really tall trumpet type lilies. I think they are so pretty but I just cannot get past the smell. I had a pink one once, gave it away because the scent was so over powering.

Henryi hybrids have little or no scent at all. But I think that all the true trumpets have scent.

Frillylily--Asiatic lilies and their hybrids like Longiflorum-Asiatic are generally non fragrant or only very lightly so. They are very colorful and widely available commercially. Most Trumpets and Orientals that are commercially available have some degree of fragrance as do any hybrids between the two. Asiatics and their hybrids vary in height from very short border type to tall accent type, reaching a height of four to five feet or more, depending on the cultivar or name. Their flowers are generally more bowl shaped and more open than the Trumpets, but in many cases produce more flowers. Wide variety of colors as well.

An interesting side note to lily fragrance is that I've grown so accustomed to it that I'm not even aware of it anymore. I have to really get my nose right into the flower if I want to check fragrance. Yet, people who come here can smell it the minute they open their car door! And I do encounter an occasional one or two who really don't like the smell. Sad
