It's already cold and windy here. We're having a brief pause in the rain. Since it was very warm earlier this morning, the post office and grocery store had the AC on. I might have bought more provisions had I not been freezing!

Rolling on the floor laughing Funny how the first cold snap affects us!

We were the grasshoppers this past week (as in the Ant and the Grasshopper fable). We waited until the last minute to load the plants into two hoop houses. All my planning of large ones in the back, followed by meduims, etc. went right out the window. We just crammed them in all day yesterday. I'll never find some of them, and some are still outside the hoops.

You are out of practice. Doesn't it get easier with each freeze?
I also kept finding plants that I needed to take in.

The only way it gets easier is if the freeze takes some of them away!

I still have to buy a shower gift, but I can't make myself go outside.
How's your greenhouse holding up?

It's longjohn/leather coat weather! We'll probably get our 2nd freeze during this, maybe 3rd, 4th, etc., too.

I have to go back to work tonight when all I want to do it dust off the fireplace and light it. ---Greenhouse is doing great! Leaves are staying off it due to the winds. Everyone seems happy inside especially since I turned on the heater early this morning, keeping it above 50 inside. Spoiled rotten plants!!

I'm back inside from stuffing what plants I could into the hoops. If it doesn't freeze tonight, I can get the rest in tomorrow. It's definitely sweatshirt weather.
Good news about your GH,Cheryl! You got a great deal on those gazebos! If they only last one season, you will have gotten your money's worth out of them.

Linda, we'll be freezing tomorrow night, if not tonight.

Another bitter cold front is heading our way. this Thursday for us in the Houston area. Will snow as far south as Dallas. Freezing rain north of Houston. We might get above freezing this weekend but most likely not. Hunker down and keep your plants warm! One good thing, this should kill off those mosquitoes. They have been out in full force! We didn't have a problem last summer but they have been baaad lately!

It was 83 here today and will drop each day until Friday when it is forecast to be 38! Hard to believe it'll be so cold near Houston. Good thing you put the plants away when you did!

The weather sites I watch do not show it getting to freezing in Fort Bend County any time soon. The lows predicted are only 36 - 39.

The weather forecast I use for my area says 26° for next Sunday night. Of course, they still can't really predict weather that far ahead, so we will see!

Look, the leaves are finally turning on our street's trees. It must be fall (Dec.4th)? was in the 80s today. Going to turn cold, windy and ugly tomorrow.

So pretty! We were commenting on the pretty leaf change we got this year. I know it is a normal thing for everyone else. But for our part of Texas leaf color is hit or miss. Last year, they just turned brown and fell off. Already, more than half the leaves have fallen off the tree. I know this because I am the one who has been blowing and mulching them up! I am enjoying it but it's hard to get ready for Christmas when I keep brushing leaves off of Santa!

My Bigtooth Maple hasn't really turned color yet, just a little brownish in parts of the leaves. But some of the red oaks and sumacs around here turned reddish colors after the previous freezes. The front starts tomorrow. Right now, the forecast for this area shows 4 freezes over the next week, with the worst of it early next week. I've had an annoying yellowjacket wasp problem lately and am going to try to do something about the nest soon. Should be easier to do it, when the colder weather is here.

It's cool, but not feeling the cold front yet. I still have ferns to move that I forgot about. The floor guy mentioned that the crew would probably be using our garage for the sawing. DH showed him the garage filled with plants. They'll be working on the patio. Whistling

Misti, I've been shoving tropicals in for a week. You may be out of time now! Hope you beat the freeze.

I guess the leaves will be swirling this evening. Glad I got the pic of the trees yesterday. I don't remember them being so vibrant in past years.
