I'm trying to find out which, if any, nut producing trees I could grow here (was z5 when I got here in 2003, has since been upped to z6) that are pretty tiny..... I will be starting espaliered fruit trees in the next couple of years and wonder if there are some nuts I could do that way. Surfing around for an answer has made me dizzy.

Look over corylus (hazel nut), not a true tree a shrub really. Much faster turn around than reggia, juglans, or hickories, at a tiny fraction of the size.
