There are hundreds of cultivars to choose from, most are easy to find; others are more difficult. Plant trading is a wonderful way to increase your collection. It really does become addictive to some of us.

Yes, nice article! I agree If I wasn't already a sempervivum nut this would convince me to be one! Big Grin

Lynn - I can't think of the name but I think it was something with Black in the title (maybe Black Beauty or something similar). I also got one with Red in the name. I'm looking for contrasting colors. I am working on a container garden that is all sedums and all semperviums. I can't wait to get this going this weekend.

Clint I know we don't have many entries yet in the database, but try looking through there. Also there are a few links in the article that have awesome photos of many varieties, some in different seasons so you can see what colors they will be in different times of the year. That is what we are working towards here in this Cubit, with the added feature of much more info on each plant. We will be adding sources for each plant also.
I do have one called Purdy's Big Red. Still not a mature specimen so not sure what to expect from it in the way of color yet. I do have some that are very red year round, just don't know the cultivar name for them, and they are one of the smaller varieties. Lost it years ago. : (

I think I found the one you were talking about Clint. Was it called Dark Beauty?

Lynn - That wasn't it. It was called "Black". It looks green with dark tips. I'll have to look at the plant tags tomorrow. I'm sure they have it.

Wow, Clint somehow I have not been notified that there are new responses to my articles. Please accept my apology. I would love some of your Semp 'Black'. Is there something I can send you? Look through the database for the ones I have posted pictures of, I should have most of those available, especially if they are from last years plants. Thumbs up
