We finally got this put together this Fall. it is a Grow Smart 13 X 13 twin wall polycarbonate. It came in 6 boxes and in 1152 pieces. The greenhouse itself is nice but it was so hard to put together. The directions were only pictures. The floor is just mud right now hence the cardboard on the floor. I plan to improve the floor but I have not decided how yet. I am looking forward to Spring when I can use it more. I have some potted plants in there right now for the winter.

Theresa,
That's a very nice greenhouse. If you have moved plants in there don't forget to but a fan in here. I have found that plants are much happier with air movement and keeps the bugs down. Does it have a vent, looks like 2 of the roof panels open?

There are 2 vents on each side of the roof that open. There is a double door on each end which is a feature I like to also help with ventilation. Last year we covered our dog kennel with plastic (which actually worked pretty well)so this is a major improvement.

Good, thought those looked like vents on the roof. Have fun, a greenhouse is so much fun.

Nice looking GH, Theresa. During the cold months you won't be able to keep the door(s) open or the vents open. You will let in the cold and lose the heat, so fans are a great idea to keep air moving. I have four in each of my two GH's. For flooring, I decided to put a 3-4" layer of cypress mulch and then cover it with GH fabric. The fabric is very tough yet allows water to go through. The mulch is easy on the feet and retains moisture. This was also the least expensive and easiest way to get flooring.

Thanks Ken! I tip my hat to you. Great idea! The mulch sounds good to my feet. I may put a fan in there eventually. I just have a very few plants in there now, perennials that were in pots and not any tropical plants so I hope they winter over in there.

How nice, Theresa! Great size, too! 1152 pieces? Good heavens! I'll bet it was like a puzzle with only pictures to go by. How long did it take you to build it?

Probably took my hubby and I one week if you added it all together but it kept raining so we kept having to stop. We had to work in mud most of the time, a few bad words were spoken Blinking but we got it done.

It took me a week to dig out and then build the foundation for my 10x12' DuraMax, but it only took a couple of days (working alone to do it all) to actually build the GH. The flooring took no more than an hour and only took that long because I had to move the mulch by wheel barrow from my truck to the greenhouse.

Hi Teresa,
Yes Santa was good to me this year. I can't wait to use it Smiling . We put cedar mulch on the floor and built some tables.

Looking good, Teresa. You are going to have so much fun in your new GH!

Are you going to cover the mulch with floor fabric?

I just put lots of cardboard down and covered with a thick layer of mulch. No floor fabric. We'll see how it goes. I have doors at both ends but i can see the need for a fan when it's cold.

The floor fabric is inexpensive and it sure does "neaten" up the floor, as well as maintain the mulch to a more flat surface. Get 1-2 el-cheapo box fans. They work just fine. You need air movement in GH's.

There is cardboard under the mulch so I don't think I will buy the landscape fabric. Perhaps a heater and box fan when it gets closer to Spring. I am pleased with everything so far. My main concern are the 70 + feet trees that are north of the greenhouse which DH really doesn't want to cut down.

I wouldn't think trees to the north would present much of a problem. The sun is now way down in the sourthern sky, and as summer approaches, will be more overhead. The sun is never in the northern sky unless you are south of the equator.

The fabric floor material is not landscape fabric. The floor fabric is meant to be on top of the mulch, not beneath it.

It isn't the sun that concerns me. There is sun on the greenhouse all day. If a strong wind with a storm would somehow uproot the trees then they could fall on the greenhouse Blinking .

Oh, OK, got that. That would be a problem. Do you "normally" have trees falling down?

You're doing a great job! I think half the fun, after construction, is fixing up the inside, getting ready for the plants!. Have fun!
