But I know aren't they just so cute! Lynn I will keep taking regular photos...I'm fearing that the rains are coming back before I have a chance to transplant them...I just decided, I'm going to do that on Thursday (move them gently into 1 inch pots - I have soil and the pots so why not! That way I can have individual babies for anyone who wants one next year at the semposium I tip my hat to you.

Yes Lynn I think if you keep them on your porch they will do great! Or planted in the bed they'll do well too but then you are going to have seedlings all over your beds! They seem easy to remove though Thumbs up

Seedlings all over the beds would not be a bad thing in this case. Hurray!

Wow. Finally I can see what the flowers look like. Not that impressive.
Well, mine died. WHen it was just about to bloom, I think.
I watered the bed and I think it was a bit too much.
It sure doesn;t like water!
I am not sure I am gonna try this again. Or maybe, one more time Smiling

Sorry to hear Calin...this plant is worth trying again I think! I may try to get some seed from my blooms, I think they are already gone but I'll check today!
I tip my hat to you.

Sorry to be ignorant -- this is another thread I've just discovered. What IS this plant? Would it do well in our more alpine (!) climate? I love it and I'm thinking next spring it would be something to add to our collection here... MR

MR, this plant is so new to all of us we still haven't figured out what make it happy. Right now Greg is having the best results. He actually has some blooming.
Mine lasted for 2 years. This last winter did it in. I don't think it was the temperatures of 5°F in December. I think what ended up doing it in was a warm up with rain, then very cold temps again.

MR, This is the plant

(Bukiniczia cabulica

Calin introduced us to it and we searched until we found a source now several us are trying to keep it alive.
As Lynn said Greg has had the best luck. I must go look and see if my last rosette is out there.
It is a funny looking little plant but appealing in it's way.

Has anyone tried it in a cold climate? Some things do seem to need what we have here, surprising as it may seem... And of course, one winter here might do it in, too -- but if no one has tried, maybe I'll be the first... MR

Trying to find a source for seeds, I discover B & T World Seeds but it doesn't have a review. (nor does it have any form of this, seed or plant.) Still, does anyone know about them? They seem to be an international organization of some sort that carries just about everything. But I'm wondering how well they care for their seed and how viable it might be? Confused

Is there another source for seed? It looks as if this is the time to plant it. MR

Greg may have seed this fall, we'll have to wait and see if they mature. Mine is not blooming at all. Probably won't until next year, if it makes it through the winter.
They grow into zone 3 (-40°F).
I think the snow cover would keep them healthier.
