Thread OP

I have started some streptocarpus plants doing very well ,still small I grow them under lights about 6 inches from the plant and covered the light stand with plastic to keep the plants warmer cause it is not so warm in my basement ,should I keep them under the plastic as it keeps them warmer ?

Hi Snoopy, Welcome! to ATP!

I grew a couple of Streptocarpus a few years ago but never had much luck with them for some reason. I found this information that might be of help:

Unless your Gro-lights give off heat or you have some sort of heating element under the plants, a plastic dome won't do much of anything but hold in moisture. The main reason we cover plants outside with plastic is to keep frost off the plants and if the ground is warm, the plastic will help hold some of that heat for a while.
