Saved some pods from my butterfly weeds at the beginning of fall. Put them on my potting table and forgot about them. POW!

so pretty and soft.

Did you know they used to collect the soft stuff to fill life jackets ? My mom (83) says she can remember collecting (during the war)

Wow! Collecting the fluff could be a real task. It is so etherial. I have trouble getting a good hold on it as it drifts about.

I think the pods are collected just before opening and seeds removed then all that is left is fluff.
Or at least that is the way I would do it Smiling

Well, that was my plan! The pods were closed. I didn't think they would explode in the house, but you know, why wouldn't they? I just wasn't thinking.

I'll have fun this winter picking the fluff off each individual seed.

I'm a lazy gardener. I'd probably sow them with the chaff. Smiling

But just think: you might end up giving them away to someone who needs a life jacket! Hilarious!
