Thanks. That area has undergone a few changes but for the last 10 years it has been pure pleasure.

Wow, even if it wasn't so pretty that would make it my fav spot too. Oh man I pull sprouting acorns constantly. Hundreds some days, most of the year. No more new beds near that tree!

We used to have an Acer Negundo and a local landscaper told us, right from the start, to rip it out and that it would be a headache. I should have listened. We'd spend endless hours picking out those tiny sprouted polly-noses from between the pavers on the patio. What a waste of time.

Awww, tough lesson! I love our oak tree for it's shade but putting a bed under it was a mistake on my part. The pecan tree is wonderful to garden under 'cuz, of course, between the squirrels and people, hardly any pecans lay on the ground long enough to sprout. Live'n'learn, huh? Not all shade is created equally, LOL!

I'm really impressed looking at your pics again. That's what I do with annuals and you've done it with perennials. I don't think all of those particular plants could survive the heat here but man, I'm a fan of what you've done!

I'd love a big old oak but it won't happen here in my lifetime! You're right about all shade not being equal! I miss the shade but not the tree.
