The description or 'long tag' is chopped off on the right side and I can not get it into view. Tell me about your birdbath, you painted the center bottom deep blue and.....
What kind of paint did you use? It is a beautiful bird bath and I really need to paint mine. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Sure Susan,

After scrubbing it well with bleach and hosing off I towel dry it. I don't worry about letting any exposed wet concrete being damp,... because I use water based latex house paint for the base coat (Mine's white) and the concrete being damp helps the paint to suction in as it drys. (I've been painting special finishes for many Moons!) After this dries to the touch I paint the center dark blue in a circle,...and then while the paint is wet add the aqua color and blend upward out.

Have a beautiful Thanksgiving!

Thank you Susan, yet I made a huge Typo!

It should have read "I DON"T worry about the wet concrete..."

I'll edit my past message to make it right! Smiling

Yes, I figured that because you said the dampness helps. Thumbs up

I figured you did, but it might not have been clear for some!

I'm just glad you wrote me a note, so I had a chance to re-read what I wrote, and be able to fix it in case anybody else read it! Smiling

There is one tiny thing I am not clear about. *Blush*

>>>>> I paint the center dark blue in a circle,...and then while the paint is wet add the aqua color and blend upward out.<<<<<

Is this a solid circle like a ball or a circle like a ring? Where do you add the aqua color? Inside the circle are around the outside of the circle. I'm all ears!

I got it! Then from the ring we will drag it to the edges. For me and the benefit of others I would like to ask one more thing if I may?
You mentioned the White water based latex for the outside, but what kind of paint is the aqua and the deep blue? Do you, or can you mix paint tint with the white latex?

Thank you! I'm all ears!

Yes!

Any latex paint can be added over the outdoor latex basecoat. I have used craft pearl paints to create beauty in the final top finish also.

All birdbaths have to get retouched yearly alas and alack to maintain the look...

Once all this has baked in the Sun for a week or so without rain,...they can be sprayed wit an enamel clear spray which will help you get through the year. All birdbaths have to be scrubbed out at some points from Spring to Summer with a dash of bleach and dried to keep them beautiful. Mine lapse sometimes. Whistling I tip my hat to you.
