I'm SO envious!! I am extremely allergic to Brugs, boooo! Their fragrance/pollen can make my throat swell shut, wowee. They are so easy to grow, you cannot over feed or over water them!

tarev, hi, I'm sorry that I didn't reply to your May post to me expressing sympathy for the loss of many of my plants. I am sending a hello to you. :)

JT- I was saddened to hear that Anne suffered two heart attacks but I'm so happy that she is home and probably feeling much stronger now. It had to be a frightening experience.

Doris- Until a few minutes ago I didn't know that you had suffered so many disasters and traumas, thank heavens you are a surviver, aa strong woman. I hope that repairs are moving more quickly but most of all, I hope that you are feeling much better since your heart attack. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I've been away from the forum for about 6 weeks, I sure have enjoyed catching up! :)

So many of you have plants with such interesting caudex's and such a variety of flower shapes, colors, etc. I love looking at all of the pictures. Love the yellow, Melissa!

I had three DR plants bloom for me in late May, early June- all were of the original flower color pink and white but I was so thrilled to finally have blooms! :). One of the plants had all of the flowers growing toward the inside, facing each other. Was it pruning (not by me) that caused this or do I just have a weird plant?

A couple of plants that looked sick are now looking healthy once again, I chopped off the top portion of them, placed them in full sun, watered them and left them alone, their caudex's thickened and now they are sprouting new branches. :)

Most of the babies that survived the winter are growing quickly, it's fun to watched them getting to look more like DR's everyday.

I am not buying any plants or seeds this year, I'll concentrate on the plants I have, I want these to live for many years so I need to learn how to get them through each season successfully. Next year, I will go nuts again. Smiling

Welcome back, Darla. I did wonder what became of you and your plants. It's good to hear that they are progressing well. Mine are too. I lost 2 over the winter. One rotted (I potted it up in too big a pot--what was I thinking and the soil stayed wet; the other was in a friends unheated sunroom and probably froze. She told me that she heats that room when it gets 40 degrees or below. Well, live and learn. I've got to take some pictures in the morning. A pink one with a white throat has already bloomed. My biggest and most reliable one (also pink, but dark pink) is currently blooming, but on only one side. Blinking I don't always remember to turn them, so that may be what's causing it. I'm also not adding anymore DRs this year--I'm running out of room, but I will plant some seeds. Big Grin

Help! I just peeked at my DRs from the doorway/glass. (They may like the heat, but I don't--it's 96 degrees out with 45% humidity). One of the seedlings has yellowing in the veins. Grumbling What does that mean? Will magnesium help. Also, I'm going out of town for the weekend and have some seedlings in small pots. There's no way I can leave them outside for 4 days without harming them. I can either bring them indoors to a sunny window or take them in the garage under lights. There it will still be hot, but not in the blazing sun. What do you all think I should do? I'm all ears!

I just read a thread from Dave and Trish saying that they would be opening a new gardening site and that cubit owners would have the option of moving their cubit to that new site.Cubits will NOT be shutting down but some of the cubits will be moving. The setup at the new site will be different, probably more like the old DG site.
That is all I know at the moment but will read more this evening and post more here.Whatever the decision,we will be staying together.Thumb of 2011-07-06/gone2seed/9df691

Wow, I just went to DG, tho' my subscription is done. I can access my chosen forums and read everything. My chosen threads are closed to me. It takes FOREVER for each page to load, because there are so many big ads! How annoying!

So, if you want to go back, check it out, you might be able to read what the old folks are saying. I like the jokes forum, myself.

ok,according to Dave's post the new site will open early next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday.I will be moving all three cubits to the new site. The format there will be discussion forum and so will do away with changing the threads when they get too long.It will also keep everything together without the need for multiple threads.Melissa, you will be happy to know there will no longer be a need for "stickies" for the chat threads.I will post a link as soon as Dave gives the ok.I will also be posting the link at BGI and on Facebook.'m sure Dave will have it here in red capital letters so no one should get lost.

Thanks for the info, JT. I've noticed a change here, I click 'first unread', or go to the end, zero memory! And I get where I want, to new posts.

Why do they implant the loudest of whistles into babies? Man, that kid's shrieks are going thru my head like a knife!

The new place will be interesting to watch. I hope it doesn't drown in, "Hooray, you're here!!!" like ! this place !! Cubits, !! started off!! Just about every cubit's title! had a ! at the end! Hello? Ah, the screamer left----
