When I first moved to rural Tennessee, I would hear the strangest sounds - one of which turned out to be wild turkeys. I am now permanently confused how someone got "gobble-gobble" out of that... Confused

There is a Barn Owl calling tonight. Alas it has been raining too much to spotlight it and photograph. I hope it stays. Earlier this year it would land close to the window and call - scaring six months growth out of me.

Glen - Love your colorful Rainbow Lorikeets! We have something with similar coloring here in the USA. But much smaller birds called Painted Buntings. The males are colorful, the females are all green. They over-winter in my location, visiting my feeders for about 5-6 months.

My favorite winter bird is the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds! I host several every Fall/Winter/Early Spring. Tiny, but fierce little birds!

I was creeping up on these Chestnut Teals just down from me and a couple came along walking 3 poodles on the mudflat. That ended that.
