I was wondering if all articles/ideas for plants could contain a link to the database for said plant(s)? Sometimes the authors do include link(s) but sometimes not. Is it up to the author to include links or can the system somehow enter them ... maybe at the end of the article?

I really enjoyed the current article/idea on the homepage for the plant Leucophyllum fructescens and I went to the database to read more about it. I think more folks (especially newbies to the site) might be more inclined to check out the database if links were provided in the articles.

Oops ... *Blush* I probably should have posted this at the Ask A Question Forum? Sorry, I've been fighting a danged cold all week and I'm a bit fuzzy so if this is the wrong place please delete it.

Actually, you are asking a site related question, so this would be the correct place to ask. I think the "Ask a Question" Forum is geared toward gardening questions. What kind of peppers grow best in my zone? How much sun does this plant need? etc.

I agree It's good to have links inside ideas and often the writer doesn't include them, and in cases like that I almost always go back and edit them in. But I don't often see the ideas until after they hit the homepage.

I edited the one today and added links. Smiling

Hey Dave, would it be possible to add a reminder to include links in the system messages we get when creating an idea?

OR (and I know this would be WAY too much programming work, if it's even possible).... have the system suggest database links when we type in a plant name.

I can't begin to imagine how much system resources that would take.

That wouldn't be easy to program but it's not hard for us to go back and edit the ideas to add the links. Smiling
